IMPORTANT COVID INFORMATION
Dear Parents
We are aware of increasing Covid cases in schools in the local area. One local school is now closed due to the number of cases, and many others have multiple bubble closures.

We currently have several members of our school community testing positive or being tested. At this stage these have not resulted in a recent bubble closure. We are doing what we can to avoid a bubble closure, but we know that this is becoming increasingly likely.
Please remember that the new delta variant has a different profile of symptoms.

“According to the team behind the Zoe Covid symptom study, which has data from more than four million people globally, headaches, a sore throat, and a runny nose are more common with the new variant. If in doubt, get a test, say the experts.”

This variant is more transmissible than previous variants.
We ask that you continue to be as careful as you can and consider the following:
• Minimise your social contact
• Remember the 2 metres apart recommendation
• Ensure mask wearing
• Increase levels of hygiene: carry sanitiser and use regularly when out and about (remember you can pick up Covid from touching contaminated items – e.g. handles)
• Open windows to let fresh air in
• All adults in the household take regular Lateral Flow tests at home (if no symptoms)
• Stay at home if you feel unwell in any way
• Book a PCR test if you develop any symptoms

If your child feels unwell, please keep them at home. We know that children’s symptoms tend to be more mild, but they can still pass on the virus.

HAVING THE VACCINE MAY REDUCE THE CHANCES OF A PERSON CATCHING COVID AND IF THEY DO CATCH COVID THEN IT MAY REDUCE THE CHANCES OF HAVING MORE SEVERE SYMPTOMS …
…BUT IT DOES NOT MAKE A PERSON IMMUNE….
….. and they can still pass it on to others.

Regular Lateral Flow Testing can pick up asymptomatic cases, but it is important to note that these tests rely on the person having a high viral load. Those who have contracted Covid-19 but are asymptomatic with the virus tend to have a lower viral load than those with symptoms, meaning the test could be less effective. This is why self-isolating if you have come into contact with a Covid-positive person is important, and having a PCR test is vital where a person has symptoms.

IF IN DOUBT – BOOK A PCR TEST

Many Thanks
