Mr. Guest’s Friday Update – 10th July 2020
Dear all,
I hope you are well. Please see below a few updates for this week.
September plans
We are working hard in school to prepare for September in line with the government guidance. This is a huge and complex task so please bear with us while we try to get this planned out. I hope to get you some key information to you by the end of next week.
Last day for our bubbles
Today was the last day for the bubbles to be in school. The bubble children have been awesome in their attitude and the way they have adapted to the new normal! We hope they have enjoyed their time in school.
Parent update meeting
Thank you to all those who attended the parent update meeting this week via zoom. We had around 50 families represented. You can download the presentation from ClassDojo on Monday and it will also appear in the Parent Update Meeting section of the school website in the coming few days.
As always I really appreciate the opportunity to share our thoughts and ideas with you and get your feedback and ideas in return. Feedback from this meeting has helped us shape some of the plans for September.
Uniform Drive
Please remember, you can drop off uniform on Monday and Tuesday. Please remember to bag this up in sizes – see example below. If you would like a bag of clothes saved for you, please contact school or email: support@colebourne.bham.sch.uk and we will be sure to save you some.
You can then collect a bag of clothes on Thursday 16th July between 9am and 3.30pm from the main pedestrian driveway.
Nursery leavers
We say goodbye to some of our Nursery children who won’t be joining us in Reception. We wish them all the very best moving to their new schools.
Year 6 leavers
Although we have not been able to have the usually last day goodbyes, hugs and tears we have arranged a special social distance assembly on Monday for each class and their parents. We look forward to seeing all the year 6 on Monday. We will also arrange a very big party for them as soon as we are able to
Parents’ meetings – Thursday 16th July
On Thursday we have the parent meetings for each class (not Rabbits). These will take place on the playground so please walk down the main pedestrian driveway. Please ensure you keep a social distance from other families.
You will get to chat to your child’s teacher and pick up their summer packs. We will also have lost property and cloak room items available.
Please also take a bag of clothes where available. We encourage you to bring your child too, especially if they haven’t been at school since March as this may help them as part of the transition to next year.
Sports Participation Week
Thanks to Mrs. Walker for arranging this special week. We have received lots of videos from the children of them doing the challenges. Each video has gained points for their house team.
Well done to everyone who got involved and especially to our winning house…
You can take a look at the videos here: https://colebourneprimary.padlet.org/MissWalker/SportsWeek
Transition week
Even though the children are not in school next week, we still have lots for them to get involved in. On Monday we will post the transition week Padlet which will have a number of activities for the children to do, including some activities to complete for their new teacher and post to their portfolios.
As part of this week, I will be leading some Zoom assemblies for the current Reception to Year 5 children.
I am asking children if they have any questions about next year that they would like answered.
Children can ask a question by filling in this very quick form: click here to ask a question
Grown-ups: you may wish to have a chat with your child about next year and help them come up with a question or two.
You can see the details of the Zoom assemblies here: Transition week assembly times.
Wishing you all a super weekend.
