Dear all,
I hope you are all well. Last night, the governing body agreed with my proposal to begin a phased return to school for some children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.
Children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6
We need ALL parents of children in these year groups to compete this survey by Wednesday 10th June at 1:30pm at the latest: Parent survey
Please complete this even if you do not want you child to return to school.
Key Worker Children
If you have a child in other year groups AND are key worker AND would like your other children to come to school, please complete this form by Wednesday 10th June at 1:30pm at the latest: Key worker form.
Once it is known how many children wish to attend, we can begin to arrange the children into small groups/’bubbles’ and allocate rooms and staff.
For those who want to return, we hope to be able to give you further details over the weekend.
Parent update meeting
Many of you will have attended my parent update meeting via Zoom earlier today; it was great to be able to talk to you and answer your questions.
The presentation contains lots of information so please read these:
- A copy of the presentation can be downloaded here:
Parent Update Meeting Presentation - 9th June 2020
- A copy of the questions and answers sheet can be downloaded here:
Parent update meeting - 9th June 2020 - Q+A
Please read through both documents as it is vital that you understand what school will be like for you and your child if you are considering sending them back.
Here are some of the key factors to think about if you are considering asking for your child to return to school:
- Children can only be taught in a small, consistent groups (bubbles) of no more than 8 max.
- Children can be taught by a Teacher or a Teaching Assistant.
- Most children will have new teachers and new classrooms.
- Classrooms and daily routines will be set up to ensure that children maintain 2m distances, although it is accepted the 2m rule is extremely difficult to enforce in the early years.
- Once any person (child or adult) or a member of their households, shows COVID-19 symptoms, that whole bubble of adults and children is automatically excluded from school for a period of 14 days or until a negative COVID-19 test is received.
- Children will be taught by the same staff members, whenever possible.
- PPE may be worn by adults or children.
- If a member of staff is dealing with someone showing COVID-19 symptoms or dealing with body fluids, full PPE will be worn by a designated member of staff.
- Cleaning regimes have been upgraded considerably, including touch points being cleaned at intervals throughout the day and the aim to have additional cleaners on site.
- Children do not have to wear uniform but should wear a clean set of clothes to school each day.
- Only 1 parent per family can drop their child off at the school gate.
- Parents/Carers are not allowed into the school building.
- Children from a household with an extremely vulnerable person cannot attend school.
- School rules will be amended to reflect these new expectations.
- Parents will not be penalised for keeping their child at home.
- The school curriculum will be broadly the same for children at home and school.
- Daily live lessons/ activities will begin on Wednesday 17th June for all children at school and at home.
- Parents/Carers must not group together; they must stay at least 2 metres apart.
- The first week starting on Tuesday 16th June will be mornings only.
- There will be staggered drop off and collection times (see presentation).
While we will aim to reopen on the 16th, if we are not ready then I will delay the opening while we resolve any outstanding issues.
