Sports Update – October 2017
Kingsbury Competitions
Y3 & 4 Football
On 10th October, 8 of our Year 3 and 4 children represented the school in the football competition at Erdington Academy. The team demonstrated great team spirit and played really well together.
Y5 & 6 Hockey
On 12th October, we took two teams to the Year 5 and 6 hockey competition at Erdington Academy. Both teams played fantastically well and impressed everyone with their amazing hockey skills. Team A were undefeated in the group stage and went through to the quarter final stage against the Abbey as top of their group. Unfortunately they lost 2-1 in the quarter final but they were a credit to the school and did extremely well all afternoon.
Girls Football
On 18th October, some of our girl’s football club went to Stockland Green to compete in the Girls football tournament. The girls played four games in their group and were undefeated. They were then through to the semi-final against Featherstone – which they won on penalties after a 0-0 draw. They then played Timberley in the final and after winning another penalty shootout – the celebrations began! Well done girls! As an extra prize for winning –the girls have tickets to see the Women’s FA cup final in May at Wembley!
Football Matches
Throughout this month, the boys’ football team have played 6 matches within the league. The boys are beginning to gel really well as a team and have scored in every game so far. Still plenty more games to play and points to be won to move up the table.
Cross Country
On 5th October, we had a cross country league event Oaklands playing fields. The children had to race over a mile in a relay style event. The whole team raced really hard and enjoyed themselves while they were doing it!
And finally…
