If the school is forced to close due to very poor weather conditions or for any other unforeseen reason, we will send a message to all parents who are registered with our messaging service. We will also post this information on our other platforms such as Class Dojo.
Please do not telephone school for confirmation as staff are likely to have been affected too.
Please note:
- School is open unless you receive a message to say otherwise.
- We will always announce any unexpected school closure via Class Dojo AND direct in-app message. If there is no message – there is no closure.
- Parents should not need to call the office or message staff to ask if we are open or closed – they should check messages first.
- We DO NOT typically message parents to say school is open, UNLESS there is significant snow and we wish to be clear regarding school being open.
If a decision is made to close on the morning, we aim to send a text message by 7.30am.
If it looks like the snow may become an issue during the day, we sometimes ask that you collect your child early – as we also need to ensure staff and parents travelling home can do so safety. Again, this information will be communicated via Dojo and in-app messaging.
If the school is open on snowy days, please make sure children have appropriate clothing as we will may be going outside to play in the snow!
We recommend wellies and that children bring slippers to change into while in school!
We strive to keep school open wherever we can but there are occasions when unforeseen events occur that compromise the safety or effective running of the school and a school closure is required.
Please make sure we have you up to date contact details on our school system and ensure Arbor in-app message notifications are switched on in your phone settings.
